Bad Bloggers Vlog!

I was feeling completely unmotivated to write today, so I decided to record my thoughts on video instead. Here’s everything that came into my house in the last week! 2 points for Amy @ My Friend Amy and 1 point for Pat at Here, There, and Everywhere. Enjoy!

  1. as always, a pleasure to watch your videos. i can only imagine how many books reside in your tbr boxes! you look like you could use a few more shelves to fit all of those on. πŸ™‚

  2. Great vlog!

You are my Bad Blogger because now I want to read Why Evolution is True. We could have 2 Chris’s reviewing that one for Amy’s 50 books!

    Yes, Bad, Bad Blogger.

  3. Lena, πŸ˜€ Glad you enjoyed it. I don’t think I even want to know how many books are in those boxes :/ It’s over 200…I know that much. I definitely need more shelves, lol.

Other Chris, We totally should!!! Wanna read it with me? That would be so much fun!

  4. Sure, it’s at the library and I’m going there tomorrow.

  5. Those are nice boxes. They’re the same quality as the ones we have at the library I work at that my grumpy ol’ boss WON’T let me take home to facilitate my move even though I promised to bring them all back. Luckily, the lady at my corner wine store is more obliging.

Anyway this is the first video of yours I’ve actually had a chance to watch all the way through, and unlike everybody else whose writing I’ve known before their face and mannerisms, you are just as I imagined you. Kudos, you. Or kudos, me. I dunno.

I gotta read some Clive Barker.

  6. Awesome! Just let me know when you want to start!

  7. Scott, They are indeed nice boxes πŸ˜‰ My mom gets them for free at work :p Otherwise I would not be able to afford such nice boxes, lol. It’s nice to have a lady at the corner wine store, isn’t it? Well I’m glad that I turned out how you imagine! I pretty much write as I speak, lol…I’ve been criticized by english professors for that :p Yes you do have to read some Clive Barker! Everville is really cool…I bet you’d like that one. Weaveword is interesting as well. And no, it’s not about weaves…it’s about haunted carpets.

  8. I’ve been wanting to read Gen X since forever but always forget about it! Now that you mention there’s Gen A, I should probably get around to it.

I’m liking That Salty Air from your pile. It looks really nice. I’ve been on a graphic novel roll myself. I just read this graphic memoir, The Impostor’s Daughter by Laurie Sandell and I loved it. I have a giveaway for it on my blog, btw. πŸ™‚

  9. Claire, I just want to read more Coupland! I swear, I’ve bought all of his books, yet I’ve only read one :p Gen X looks really cool though. Doesn’t That Salty Air look great? I love the title. I’ve been on a graphic novel kick too! I’ve finished the graphic novels challenge and then some! I totally thought I signed up for your giveaway, but apparently I hadn’t! Just did though!

  10. *twitch* Oh, Chris. If you wanted Mister B. Gone, I’d have happily given you my copy. *hopes he’ll enjoy it*

And no, you don’t sound crazy. I know what you mean. I like my books with ickle extras too. ^-^ They’re always fun!

And yes! Bookshelf tour! (I was thinking doing this for another vlog topic, but first I have to clean my room. *ahem* *currently has books and stuff everywhere except on her bed*) Do a bookshelf tour! (And they are pretty boxes. *rambling* I want boxes like that. I currently have part of the books I want to get rid of in bags. They’re four bags stuffed with books and… Well, they didn’t clear out as much space as they might be expected to. Meaning, you barely notice the difference. Your TBR is scary, though. How on earth do you find books from your pile now?)

  11. I have to laugh to get blamed for a book I haven’t even read yet! lol.. I forgot even where I read about it! Amazon has used books of this so I will get it eventually. (how quickly money runs out) but, like you I am safe with tbrs for some time lol Mine broke 100 and that scares the hell out of me!

ps i love your vlog .. i get to hear that cute accent again!

  12. I love your blogs. πŸ˜€ They instantly bring a smile to my face!

I can’t believe your TBR boxes. How did you organise them in there? Do you have a reference index so when you want to read a book you can find it? (I would totally have a colour coded index, but I’m a freak.)

And I love the extras too; Sacks’ Oaxaca Journal had sketches of ferns, which was awesome.

  13. And by Blogs, I meant Vlogs.

  14. I had so many things I wanted to say, but first I have to get a handle on my uncontrollable laughing at your TBR pile. Really I shouldn’t laugh though. See, I figure you’ve just given me license to acquire away. I could do a hell of a lot of buying and still not surpass you. πŸ˜€

So anyway. I’m glad you didn’t feel like writing, because I love your vlogs!!!

Ooooh, and the little extras…I love them, too. They’re like cool little surprises and they never fail to help me like a book more, even if they really don’t add anything to the actual story.

I bought Why Evolution is True not too long ago…really hoping to get to it this summer. (Yeah, I live in a dream world.) And though my sorry excuse for a brain has already forgotten the name of that first book (the zombie one), I can’t wait to hear what you think of it…it really caught my eye.

    Have a fabulous week, Chris!!!

  15. That was entertaining! I have to reread Generation X before Generation A comes out. You were talking about how you didn’t know if it was a novel or short stories or whatever and truthfully… I can just barely answer that question myself! It was my second Coupland read, so it was a few years ago now. You really should read more Coupland. I only have two left (and his new one) and I am all caught up!

Hope you enjoy your books! My TBR pile is bigger than yours…

  16. Oooh, that salty air sounds so good! And so does Why Evolution is True. Like I was telling you on Twitter, I almost picked that one myself for the project.

I pronounce “Coupland” the same way as you πŸ˜› Generation X is a novel, I’d say, though a fragmented one. The structure is kind of similar to Life After God. Anyway, there’s this bit in particular that always makes me cry (I’ve only read the book once, but I’ve re-read that part several times). It has to do with birds and blue eyes. This will make sense when you get to it πŸ˜›

And I did really enjoy Nothing But Ghosts. I think you will too! I’m planing to post my thoughts tomorrow.

  17. Yay vloggers! I just made my first vlog (where I yammer on about some of the books on my TBR towers) so I’m going around looking at other’s vlogs. I think I’ll be working on syncing issues and trying to feel more comfortable when the blue eye of the camera is staring me down! I’ve heard of Bad Bloggers before (love the idea!) but I’m not sure who is responsible for it and/or if it is a meme? It’s a great topic for vlogging. Ah, the curse and blessing of TBRs! Nice job.

  18. Pretty cool. So jealous of your TBR boxes. I read Fingersmith recently, and I knew there was a twist coming, but I in no way predicted it. AND there was a second twist (or five) later. =)

  19. Great Vlog Chris! One of these days, I’m going to have to get around to doing another of my own…

  20. see, i’d do bad bloggers but i am NOT NOT NOT going to buy more books right now! and i am trying to get fewer books rom the library too! nice to see you though! πŸ™‚

  21. I love your vlogs, so cute and adorable! I love your book shelves. Do you find it harder to search your TBRs all boxed up or does it help organise things? I realy should start doing bad bloggers every week, but I am scared to admit to how many books I get each week…
