The Sunday Salon – Sunday Book Coveting

tssbadge31Welcome Sunday Saloners and regular readers πŸ™‚ Here’s a list of the books I’ve added to my wishlist since last Sunday. I thought it would be fun to look at this once a week.

The Unwritten Girl by James Bow – I added this one to my wishlist after Bart’s review. He’s been following James Bow for awhile now and I figured I should read this series!

Alcatraz Vs. The Evil Librarians by Bradon Sanderson – Come on, just read that title and you’ll know why I want to read it. And it’s written by Brandon Sanderson. And Becky did an awesome review of it that made me want it right away!

Never Slow Dance with a Zombie by E. Van Lowe The Story Siren mentioned this in her “In My Mailbox” feature and it sounded really good. Another one that I just love the title of.

Crazy Beautiful by Lauren Baratz-Logsted – I’m not even really sure what this one is about :p But there is such a huge buzz about it that I figured it must be good, lol.

Ash by Melinda LoRenay is crazy excited about this one, so I figured I should be too :p This will also work really well for Amanda’s GLBT challenge that I think I’m going to join.

Sprout by Dale Peck – Another GLBT book that sounds really good. Becky did an awesome review of this one too, so it went onto the wishlist.

glbtAs I mentioned above, Amanda at The Zen Leaf is hosting a GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered) challenge that runs from July through the end of December. I don’t read very many GLBT books, but what I’ve read, I enjoy. The focus of this challenge is to basically read 6 books by GLBT authors or books with a focus on GLBT issues. Hey Nymeth, maybe I’ll finish Middlesex now! LOL. Anyway, it sounds like a great challenge that should broaden my horizons, and I’ll be participating!

Finally, I have to announce the recepient of the first Books Around the World book! And that person is Kailana! I have your address Kelly, so I’ll get it right out to you and then you can send it on to someone else! Enjoy!

  3. Oh come on Chris, admit it.. if it’s published, you’ll read it! lol.. just really have a varied group of books you read and enjoy..and that’s great! In the meantime.. I haven’t read a word in a book in 6 days! and it looks like it will be another week before I can begin to feel human.. I hurt soooooooooo bad from my bad back the unpacking has been horrid.. so no post yet.. to exhausted to write or read much of anything

  4. Oh god, so were clocking up possible bad bloggers points now are we? LOL

And your reading Vladimier Todd I see. That one has been on my wish list since Karin reviewed it, you’ll definitely have to review it!

  5. The Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling would suit your GLBT challenge perfectly, Chris.

  6. You realize that this is kind of evil, don’t you? Because you know you’re only going to make our wish lists grow too, right? You don’t really care, do you? πŸ˜‰

So glad you’re joining Amanda’s GLBT challenge, too! I’m really excited for this one!

Becky will be getting a point from me one of these days for Sprout, too. Sounds like a good one. And now I’m off to check out all these other damn books… Evil, I tell you.

  7. Alcatraz, Sprout, Ash, and Crazy Beautiful are all on my wish lists because of Renay and Becky. Now I have to add the rest because of you. It’s a good thing I don’t participate in Bad Bloggers because you’ll win! =) Have a great week.

  8. Yay! That means I can return the book to the library tomorrow. One less book to stress me out. lol

  9. I just reviewed Strangers in Paradise by Terry Moore. Graphic Novel. It might fall in line for the GLBT reading challenge. It was excellent regardless.

  10. Ash and Sprout sound seriously awesome. And yes, Chris, I do think that you finishing Middlesex would be a great idea πŸ˜›

  11. For your LGBT Challenge I totally recommend A Density of Souls by Christopher Rice…and if you can manage to find a copy of it, Like People in History by Felice Picano, it’s an amazing book (probably one of my all time favorites.)

  12. Alcatraz is excellent, as is its sequel. I can’t wait for the third one to be published (sometime this fall, I think.) Hope you enjoy!

  13. Crazy Beautiful is a contemporary re-visioning of Beauty & the Beast about a boy with hooks for hands and a gorgeous girl who meet on their first day at a new school – just so you know. πŸ™‚ I hope you do read it and, if you do, like it!

  14. I added Alcatraz to my list after reading Becky’s review as well, darn her! πŸ˜€ In fact, a copy of it just came in for me at my library, so I’m hoping to get to it soon.

  15. Never Slow Dance with a Zombie = MUST READ! I’m seriously squeeing like a fan-girl here πŸ˜›

Actually all those books are on my must read list! Love the GLBT challenge too – we have an awesome store here called Venus Envy (think of a really high class educational sex shop) but anyway the store is like 1/2 sex stuff and 1/2 bookshop with some amazing books. With a majority being written by/about GLBT authors/people.

  16. Very nice choices. Crazy Beautiful looks great and I really want to read it (I have an interview with the author on my blog right now if you are interested…contest too, not for CB, but another of her books).

I want ASH as well, looks great. Amazing cover.

Should be getting Sprout soon. Another nice one.

And Never Slow Dance with a Zombie looks fab, and the one I actually DO have. I love the author, he’s so nice.

I didn’t know about the LGBT challenge. I’m interested now.
